I usually receive 1-3 postal surveys per month, but some months I may not get any at all. I don't usually mind filling out these surveys unless they are extremely long and tedious. In that case I usually just toss them in my recycling bin. You maybe thinking that doing this might jeopardize my participation on the panel, but in actuality most survey companies state in the FAQ/help section of their website that participation in their surveys is voluntary.
Here are a few examples from a few survey sites:
Opinion Outpost:
What if I don't want to take a particular survey?
We hope you will want to participate in all survey invitations, but there is no pressure to complete a survey. We may send reminder e-mails in case you have simply forgotten to take a survey. It is up to you if you don't want to take a particular survey; hopefully you will be able to respond to the next invitation.
Socratic Forum:
How frequently do I have to participate?
It is completely up to you! There is no minimum number of times you must participate in our surveys, and you can cancel your membership at any time.
Opinion Square
Do I have to take all the surveys you send me?
No. Every survey is absolutely voluntary. If you don't have time or aren't interested, simply delete the e-mail. But remember, the more surveys you take, the more rewards you can earn.
With that being said, there are some survey panels that want your opinion frequently and if you are inactive for too long, usually between 3-6 months, they may mark you as inactive and remove your account. This will vary from survey site to survey site so you will want to check with each one you are a member of if you have a tendency to miss surveys for an extended amount of time.
Below is an example:
Surveys.com:
How often will I be invited to take a survey?
We usually contact you no more than 2-3 times per month. You are under no obligation to participate in any survey; however please note, if after several attempts you do not participate in any surveys, we may consider you an inactive member and inactivate your membership in the Surveys.com online community.
Pinecone Research:
Do you ever remove members for missing surveys?
We routinely monitor member participation. Members that are identified as "at risk for removal " are notified of this via e-mail. Those who are unable to maintain acceptable participation levels thereafter are removed from the panel.

Pinecone Research Payments
Got another $3.00 straight to my PayPal account this morning for a survey I did yesterday from Pinecone Research. One of the reasons I love Pinecone, of course there are also the product tests and amount of surveys they send.I received another payment proof from them in July as well. If you haven't joined yet or are looking to join, scroll down to the bottom and click on the banner to sign up. If the link does not work please let me know and I will try to find another one. Good Luck!

Pinecone Research has added a advisory about the deadlines of their surveys, usually these advisories are located at the end page of each survey. It states that there will be more variability in their surveys and that the amount of time that the surveys are available may only be for a couple says. Becuase of this, they recommend checking your email regularly so you won't miss out on any opportunities.
I personally haven't seen a drastic change how long the surveys are open, at least not with the last couple that I have completed. Both the surveys were open for about 4 days, which seems normal compared to the previous surveys I have completed. Those of you that don't check their email regularly may start wanting to now that these changes will go into affect soon.
Also since Pinecone upgraded their surveys, for a more pleasant survey experience I suppose, some people may find that they are having trouble completing a survey. I recommend trying to complete the survey on another computer. If you miss too many surveys Pinecone will see this and may feel that you are no longer a needed member since you missed chances at expressing your opinion. I do not agree with how they pick members out to discontinue from their panel, but I can also see why they do it.

I forgot to post a payment I received from Pinecone Research on the 11th of this month. I just got another payment from them today as well for a survey I completed last night. I am currently testing a product for them as well so after I complete the follow up survey I should receive another $3 via PayPal. Currently I am just waiting on them to email me the link.
Here are the payment proofs below:

Received another payment in the mail, this one is from Valued Opinions. I cashed out for a $20.00 Macy's Gift Card a little before Christmas and received it early January like my previous payment proof posts also stated. I had around $38.00 in my account and thought I should probably cash out for a gift card since I would have enough for another one soon.
I am planning on cash out for another $20.00 gift card soon, I think the next one will also be to Macy's as well. I might just use them for birthday presents to my sisters since there isn't a Macy's in Iowa, and I know there are a couple in Illinois. Here is the payment proof:
Valued Opinions has been a pretty good survey site so far. The compensation you receive per survey is very good, at least for the majority of surveys they invite you to. The downside to Valued Opinions is you have to be invited there, but members can not refer you. They are somewhat like Pinecone Research in that you have to find a banner or signup link in order to join.
On the upside I have a link that should work, I found it posted somewhere else, can't remember exactly but I think it was a website or a forum. Sign up here for Valued Opinions, if the link doesn't work please let me know. Just scroll down the page and there will be a small registration form. The page may try to redirect you to the main website page, just click the stop button on your browser. Good Luck!
Note: The link given above is only for residents of the United States, Valued Opinions has other survey panels for specific countries so please check the "legend" on the right side and find your country. Also check out the international section for more survey panels.

I haven't been posting payments of Pinecone Research lately even though I have received numerous ones, I have been pretty busy trying to find a job, daycare for my son, and just being a mom. I apologize, but if you ever want to see payment proof just check out the payment proof section, link located in "Categories". Recent payment proof below.

I received an email from Pinecone Research a couple minutes ago, they want more people to join their panel. They pay $3 per survey via PayPal and Check. This panel, if you don't already know, is somewhat difficult to signup with since you have to find their banner somewhere throughout the internet, which can sometimes be a task in itself.
PineCone Research continues to grow and we invite you to help! We are offering select members the opportunity to recommend membership to a friend or relative who is NOT a member of their household.
Do you know of households that would like to join the PineCone Research Panel? If so, please FORWARD A COPY of this email to each household you would like to refer so that they may click on the registration link shown below. That household should complete the registration form themselves and submit it. REMEMBER THAT ONLY ONE PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD MAY REGISTER. Multiple registrations of the same Household will void all registrations.

In June I was told that I could either stay with the $5 panel or move to the new $3 panel for Pinecone Research. If I stayed with the old panel I wouldn't get as many surveys if I joined the $3 panel, I decided to stay with the $5 panel as long as I could. I received about 5 more surveys during the months of June, July and August which is slightly less than I usually get. Well yesterday I received an email stating to click on a link to a membership survey which stated the following:
To help PineCone Research keep pace with changes occurring in the general population, we periodically perform routine maintenance of our active panelist files. As part of the upcoming panel maintenance process, your household has been flagged for removal and regrettably, your membership with the panel is scheduled to be discontinued.
While your participation in the PineCone panel as it exists today has come to an end, as a valued member of the PineCone family we'd like to extend to you the opportunity to join our new cash plus sweepstakes incentive panel, if you would like to do so.
In the cash plus incentive plan, members are compensated with a $3 cash incentive for each completed survey and entered into a bi-weekly sweepstake for a chance to win $500. In addition, members are entered into the bi-weekly sweepstakes every time they complete household questions, which were formerly uncompensated.
Would you like to join PineCone's new cash plus sweepstakes panel?
We'll be happy to include you in the new cash plus sweepstakes panel as soon as the transition can be made. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when the transition is complete. Good luck in the sweepstakes...
I am sure I am not the only one who was "flagged for removal" because of "routine maintenance", all I can say is that I stayed a member of the $5 panel as long as I could and I have decided to just join the new $3 panel. If you haven't gotten this email yet and you are apart of the old $5 panel, heads up because it will inevitably be sent to you.

I got paid again by Pinecone Research, two $5.00 transactions sent to my PayPal account. It's nice how they send your payment the next day straight to your PayPal account instead of having to wait 4-6 weeks or more for a check or waiting for the survey to close so they can post it to your account. I am expecting to receive 2 product tests from Pinecone Research this month, along with 4 other product tests from various survey sites. I have been with Pinecone Research and I am very pleased with their surveys/product tests and customer service. If you haven't joined already you should really consider it.

Thats right, registration for Pinecone Research is now open for Canadian residents to join Pinecone Research so hurry up and join before they close it again! It seems that Pinecone gets overwhelming responses when it comes to recruiting from Canada because registration is always closing, at least from what I have seen. The United States and United Kingdom Panel usually has registration open most of the time. I noticed for US residents the amount paid per survey has gone from $5.00 to $3.00, which probably has to do with inflation. Since I joined before they changed the rate I am still paid $5.00 per survey. I'm not sure if they changed the paying rate for UK and Canadian panelists.
From what I am hearing the UK registration may be closed right now, but when they open again I will have the banner back up, US registration is still open to 18-24 year-olds. That doesn't mean to say if you are over those ages you can't register but you may have more difficulty being accepted. You should also be aware that if you tried to sign up a couple weeks ago and haven't been accepted you should not register again since it will cause you to disqualify yourself. Also You have to use Internet Explorer when you sign up, they won't allow you to register using AOL, Firefox, Opera, etc.
The thing I like most about Pinecone Research is that you get to test a product every time you complete a survey from them, of course you have to qualify for them. You will know when you have qualified for a survey because it will usually take twice as long than if you didn't qualify. The household questionnaire is not considered a survey so you won't get product tests with those and won't receive a reward either since you are giving them info so they can send you more surveys that meet your demographics. But overall Pinecone Research is one of the top survey sites along with a few others.
Canadian residents click on the banner to register. US residents can register by clicking •Here•. Registration for UK residents is currently closed. | ![]() |
